What did the court decide in Rotkiske v. Klemm?

Answered for: US

We hold that, absent the application of an equitable doctrine, the statute of limitations in § 1692k(d) begins to run on the date on which the alleged FDCPA violation occurs, not the date on which the violation is discovered.

The Court held that the FDCPA's one-year limitations period runs from the date of the violation, not the date the consumer discovers it. The sentence above is the court in its own words.
